Reflection
I grew up in an age where technology was a must have luxury, and I needed the best of the best. But as time went on, I realized that this “Rad Technology” was changing who I was and how I saw life. But that was merely when I was a child, when I grew up into a more developed teen was where I noticed the “Real” drastic consequences. We were being controlled. And not the brainwashing type of control, but the kind where we were being influenced by the media and peers to but this “Amazing” new product, how we needed to go with the flow and stay in the trend.. We wasted money, time, have sacrificed things that we’ve only dreamed of doing, and have been manipulated. This is why I chose the topic of debating whether the use of Social Media is a good thing, or something that has forced both our hand and mind to think in a new light. This meant that I had to use most of my prior knowledge for this project, so the time I spent researching was a tad miniscule. I would say that at least blah blah hours were spent doing research. I mostly used class time to do any research, but if further research was necessary then any other spare time at home was used. I learned that there are at least 25 different perspectives on the use of Social Media; ranging from “Time Consuming Perspectives” to “The Democratic Perspectives”. This helped with writing my paper due to the various topics/perspective that I could chose from so that my paper had a diverse amount of opinions. I originally intended to finish a large portion of my project at an early start, but the lack of direction from my teachers made it slightly difficult. I don’t blame them all that much, my lack of effort and misdirection are to partially to blame as well. There was no big risk taken, I merely had to push myself with the boring research that was conducted, and try to think of great writing to put into my paper. I simply want my audience to know the outcomes of using Social Media. And while they might not life threatening, they can certainly influence the wrong people. And that we should not be too dependent on the technology and Media that we use on a daily bases. A “C” at most. I didn’t really put myself into the paper as much as I wanted too, and I felt like the low effort (not too low) that I put in is an example of it. I’ve always thought I was a pretty good writer whenever I would write a paper. But I’ve never used more than two or three citation in one. So I feel as if both my writing ability, comprehension of text, as well as my researching skill have gone up at least 15 percent. Due to the major amounts of debate between this topic, I would say that my Debate and Controversy section is and will be the strongest part of my paper. There are many views that this topic touches base on, so there is no denying that there will be more content in there.
